This is an eye cream from the Korean cosmetics company, Beauty Credit. It's relatively inexpensive, and contains coenzyme Q10. Its purpose is to moisturize and improve skin elasticity. I like it because it's not very oily-- the oiliness of some other products can actually cause your skin to become worse and dotted with small bumps.

These are kind of old... as you can see, I'm quite behind on proper blog posts here.

POPEYE is one of my more recent favourite Japanese magazines (it used to be MEN'S NON-NO). But I've found that I like the styling a lot better in POPEYE than MEN'S NON-NO... most of the time. It's also hard to find POPEYE in Canada, so my friends will always bring me a copy when they visit from Asia ♥

July had lots of street style photos.
June was all about shoes.

Although less attracted by MEN'S NON-NO in the past year, it's still a lovely surprise to receive these from friends. I'm still a bit sentimental for MEN'S NON-NO, I suppose because I've been buying them for years now. I like the MEN'S NON-NO occasional week-in-the-life-of spreads and the celebrity/designer features.

MEN'S FUDGE is great because everything they do is a little more graphic than POPEYE or MEN'S NON-NO. Although the content is smaller, the graphic quality is nice to look at. I also prefer the styling in FUDGE over MEN'S NON-NO.

I've been much more into non-fictional reading in the past six months-- it's somehow become more interesting to escape into realities - although ones that belong to others.

This Tord Boontje book was a gift that I received on my last day at the architecture firm I was working for. It is a beautifully designed and constructed book, containing a huge retrospective of many of Tord Boontje's design work and personal history. I love how the design of the book itself is so evocative of Boontje's design aesthetics, highly textural and three-dimensional.

One of my coworkers gave me this lovely T on my last day of work(/architecture). JH and his wife own this really awesome multidisciplinary company called Wonder Inc - through which they design an array of products spanning anywhere from graphics, furniture, to architectural design. This T was a project they did for Holt Renfrew a few years ago-- the cut is a bit different than normal. Rather than the standard two pieces of fabric, this one is constructed of four main parts, made in graphic shapes. There are a lot of interesting details included into this T-shirt --like a nephrite jade necklace, a little booklet with inspirational writing, and even the plastic that wraps the T is so thoughtful. JH briefly described to me the concept of the lasting life of the jade against that of the fabric-- this is a T-shirt that carries with it something more than the utility of a simple garment.

The T is printed with the Dutch word "graag". It means you're easy. Word to your mother.

I told myself I wouldn't buy anymore expensive T-shirts... but here is a T from the Jil Sander S/S10 collection. It comes in this elegant box, printed with Tsuguharu Foujita paintings.

I think something like this can be easily "dated", with an easily recognizable season/year of make -- and I suppose that could be considered a negative thing for some. But for me, I think it's a nice, small souvenir of a simple and charming design collection. I wouldn't mind to wear this T year after year.

DR CI LABO : SUPER WASHING FOAM EX

I just recently started using this face-wash from Dr Ci Labo. Although I generally don't have a specific preference for my face-wash products, I do like the foaminess of this one. I was using the Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam for a while - but I think the Dr Ci Labo one is a bit more moisturizing. It contains marine collagen, hyaluronan, and ceramide that help with skin elasticity.

It came as a total shock when Polaroid decided to shut down all their instant film production plants a few years ago-- ever after putting an end to the most well-known form of instant film in the world. But of course, it couldn't have been long before someone came around to pick up the trend again. It's just not a market that could die quite so easily. There was the Fujifilm Instax series and their Instax films (and Polaroid's recent and very sad launch of the exact same product, the Polaroid 300) ... But now, there's the Impossible Project.

In October 2008, The Impossible Project (headed by Florian Kaps - of Lomography - and André Bosman - a former Polaroid manager/engineer) saved the last Polaroid factory in Enschede in the Netherlands just a few days before its ultimate demise. The Impossible Project not only seeks to revive the medium of instant Polaroid film, but to birth something entirely new. Although utilizing the same format of popular Polaroid films, each product is being made with a completely new chemical formula. There are different types, each with a different colour effect that adds incredible visual appeal to the most mundane of objects.

This is one of those places that are so breathtaking in person, and my photography skills so meager-- None of the photos really capture the amazing experience of the moment - walking through the shade of pine woods, the sloping, slippery ground underneath your feet - into the curving, open expanse of a frozen lake, surrounded all around by white snow, deep greens, and mountain peaks.

The air in the mountains is very fresh and crisp. This must be the perfect time of year to visit - - the ice is beginning to melt, but the daytime temperatures stay warm enough for shorts and a light jacket.
